But wait, have I introduced myself? 

My name is Yana (Ykje) Vriesinga, a health reporter and certified CBT-I sleep coach from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. (As mentioned before, CBT-I stands for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia.)

My own struggle with chronic insomnia began in 2015,  during a painful divorce. My daughter wasn't two yet and my son four weeks old.

In between nursing and changing diapers, I lay awake for hours, overcome by worry and heartbreak. Sleep felt like an impossible dream...

Determined to reclaim my rest—and my life—I immersed myself in the science of sleep and stress. What I discovered didn’t just help me rest deeply at night; it also boosted my resilience during the day. (Hence the name of my website 🌈)

Since then, I've made it my mission to share these tools with others, especially those navigating stressful times and wondering if they’ll ever wake up feeling good again.

Over the years, I’ve helped thousands of people stress less and sleep more through my newspaper articles and columns. Writing about health and well-being allowed me to translate complex science into practical, down-to-earth advice.

From Writing to Coaching

Crafting this step-by-step system for turning good intentions into actual change deepened my knowledge about behavioral science, sustainable habit formation and the crucial importance of sufficient support.
